Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)

There are several CSA farms in the Berks County area that offer organic and/or sustainably grown produce, meats, and dairy. Consider joining a CSA today!

Briefly, CSA is a way for consumers to buy food directly from local farmers. Consumers pay a one time fee at the beginning of the growing season and pick up their "share" either weekly or bi-weekly for a period of time (usually 6-7 months). Learn more about CSA here

Lancaster Farm Fresh

Lancaster Farm Fresh Cooperative (LFFC) is an organic farmers’ cooperative located in Leola, Lancaster County, PA. The Cooperative is owned by nearly 70 Amish and Mennonite farmers growing certified-organic produce and raising grass-fed animals. LFFC distributes its products to individual households through community supported agriculture (CSA) and a buying club (4 Season Harvest), in addition to selling wholesale to grocers, restaurants and farm stands.

2010 will be the fifth year of operation for LFFC; and 19 new farmers joined the membership of our Coop this year! In order for LFFC to support new farm families we need to expand our distribution. We currently deliver CSA shares and buying club products to Wyomissing on Wednesday and would like to serve more of Berks County.

Lancaster Farm Fresh Cooperative is seeking individuals and/or organizations (community centers, synagogues or churches) to host CSA pick up sites. If you are interested in creating or strengthening your community, healthful locally-grown food is a great focal point for families and individuals. To find out more details about our CSA program and 4 Season Harvest buying club please visit our website, www.lancasterfarmfresh.com or contact us at csa@lancasterfarmfresh.com or 717-656-3533.

Two Gander Farm

Two Gander Farm specializes in honey production and raising high quality honeybee colonies and local (northern) queen bees. Their products are marketed through wholesale outlets, CSA farms, farmers' markets, and an internet store in partnership with Swarmbustin Honey. Two Gander Farm also farms six acres of vegetables in rotation with a series of cover crops providing both fertility for the soil and nectar for the bees. The farmers participate in two farmers' markets as well as selling direct wholesale to farmstands and the kitchens of a few local colleges and universities. They offer a winter share from November through May as well as a summer share.
